School Sports Premium Funding

The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games gave an opportunity to inspire the nation to enjoy sport. The Government is determined to secure a significant and lasting legacy from the games, and to develop children’s enjoyment of sport and physical activity from an early age. In April 2013 the Government announced a new funding called the Sport Premium to improve the quality and breadth of Physical Education (PE) and sport provision in primary schools.

Sherborne St John CE Primary School understands and values the importance of PE and sport. The children are encouraged to take part in a range of sports and physical activity both within the PE curriculum and extra-curricular activities. We believe that PE and sport contribute significantly to the development of our children, and through participation in PE and sport they can develop their learning behaviours of teamwork, resilience, independence and confidence.

The school’s Governing Body have been kept closely informed over the issue of Sport Premium and how the school has used the money.
