Uniform

We are proud of Sherborne St John CE Primary School and want all of our children to look smart. The wearing of school uniform is encouraged and supported by Staff and Governors and we ask that parents support us by encouraging their children to take pride in their appearance and wear the uniform as listed below. School uniform plays a valuable role in contributing to the ethos of our school because it instils pride and encourages identity with, and support for, school.

The items of uniform have been selected carefully to be practical, hard wearing, affordable and attractive. The school stocks and sells the items of uniform carrying the school logo.

For health and safety reasons it is important that children are properly dressed for any physical activity.

All PE clothing should be named, kept in a named drawstring bag and be kept in school at all times during the week.  It should be taken home for washing at weekends and holidays.

Art aprons/overalls

Art aprons will need to be provided after Class 1. An old T-shirt or shirt is perfectly adequate.

General considerations

Parents are asked to ensure that all items are labelled clearly with their child’s name.

For safety reasons we discourage the wearing of jewellery in school. Watches may be worn. Children with pierced ears may wear plain small stud earrings. Watches and earrings must be removed for PE.

Long hair must be tied back with plain red or hair coloured bands/slides, or a red and white checked scrunchy.

Appropriate hairstyles would be greatly appreciated.

No make up or nail varnish.

Purchasing uniform

School uniform is sold through Skoolkit, who are based on Church Street in Basingstoke. The school no longer stock items of uniform, only water bottles and replacement lids.
